Bird Cards
Odd/Even Birds
Sorting Mats
You will need to write the odd/even numbers on the birds.
**For some reason whenever I upload my documents to Google Docs, they become distorted. So I apologize if the pictures and text are out of whack. (For example I am pretty sure the sorting mats are really off. Each should be just one page with a big bird house, the words Odd and Even on top of the bird house)
Enjoy!

Spring Shake-Up
I got this original idea from the blog First Grader At Last! http://firstgraderatlast.blogspot.com/2010/10/spooky-shake-up.html
Since then I have made a similar Wintery Shake-Up and now Spring Shake-Up.
I used egg cartons and flower erasers for the game. I also put some extra flower erasers in a cute container to use as counters.
Put 2 erasers inside of the egg carton and write numbers on each hole. Students shake the egg carton and open to see what 2 numbers the erasers landed on. Then they add or subtract the 2 numbers.

Oh No! Sight Word Game
Here is a game that my kids love. Not sure where I got the idea from, I think from my 1st year teacher mentor. (If it is from a blog, let me know!) I just made my own cover and taped it to an empty Slim Jim container. I write sight words on craft sticks and try to change out the sight words every 6 weeks. Students take turn taking a stick and reading the sight word. If they are unable to read it, they put it back in. If they can read it, they get to keep it. If a student draw the Oh No! stick then they have to put back all of their sticks.

My Efforts to Save Texas Schools
Being a 1st year teacher I have very little job security right now. With the help of my sister, I have been doing all I can to help save our schools. Here are some photos:

Spin, Say and Write Sight Words
This game goes in my Wordplay station every week. I change out the boards and spinners each week with new sight words.
I use a paper clip and brad to make the spinner.
Students take turns spinning. When they land on a sight word they must find it on their board, say and then write it.
You can change the spinners and boards to have any words you want!

Doubles Plus 1 BINGO
Here is a game I made that my students really love! It is called Doubles Plus 1 BINGO. I put the BINGO boards in Communicators and have students use dry erase markers to make an X on each square. I copied the BINGO boards and instructions on colored card stock paper to make it sturdy and cute!
